Hair and Hats Part 2
Continue creating unique characters with hair and hats in this 2nd of a 2 part course.
In this course, we are going to continue to create our own characters from the shoulders up. After gaining the skills learning how to draw various hairstyles and hats, we will continue to develop simple portraits, using various medium.
We start off using black ink and one marker, we will continue to develop characters, imagining what they may say, think or do.
We will also be creating mixed media portraits using watercolor to block in the face and clothing, and then add colored pencil for the hair, hats and details on the clothes. Included in this course is a lesson on how to get various skin colors with watercolor.
We have another opportunity to practice drawing simple cartoon portraits by drawing characters from the shoulders up, traveling on an iconic red London Bus.
As the Creative Thinking Strategy for this course, we talk about the idea of a “Creative Constraint.” This is when there are applied limitations, when your options are limited, often it causes people to generate more, rather than less varied solutions.
This course is a perfect way to continue to create characters using some of the skills we have been developing for creating unique character portraits and practicing being creative.
