About Color Wheel Fish

use the color wheel to create amazing fish!

COLOR!!!  There is so much to learn about color!  In the course COLORWHEEL FISH, we give a very basic overview of color theory.

We introduce primary colors (which are the colors that can’t be created with other colors: red, blue and yellow), and secondary colors (colors that are created when mixing two primary colors: orange, purple and green.)  Next we will briefly discuss complementary colors which are colors opposite each other on the color wheel and we talk about Analogous colors.  These are colors right next to each other on the color wheel.

After exploring basic color theory, we will put what we’ve learned into practice by creating beautiful, vibrant fish.

As our final art project, we will create a large fish with three sections where they make a fun, patterned fish. We apply what we have learned about color for this culminating project.

We introduce a Creative Thinking Activity called the  “Squiggle Test.” This activity is inspired by the Torrance Test of Creativity.  Kids turn squiggles into quick pictures, and practice stretching their thinking.

There is so much to color theory, but this course is a great introduction to learning about and exploring with color.
