"Painted Paper With Tempera Paint" Course Description
This course is full of open ended art experiences. This is such a wonderful way to explore, experiment and notice what happens when playing with paint and different tools you have around the house.
We will be making painted papers that we will hold onto for future courses, including a collage project that we will do at the end of this course.
As our medium we will use water based tempera paint to explore color and textures. We will also use various tools to carve into the paint to get patterns.
While it may seem overwhelming to paint in this way, the instructions are very clear, and I set you up for success so there is limited mess. We start out working with two primary colors. Since we are working with only two colors at a time, there is no need for water to rinse out brushes until they are completely finished.
Towards the end of this course, we get a taste of using these beautiful papers to create a simple collage cactus. Even though the caucus is made of simple shapes, there is so much texture and dimension from the papers created.
With every course we introduce or practice a creative thinking skill. Here we introduce the R of Scamper, and talk about how we can rearrange or reverse something to come up with something new. So in this case, how could we rearrange our day to make it ….very different.
This course is a wonderful way to practice being creative. And the added bonus is, these papers can be saved to create gorgeous collages with texture and dimension in the future.
